St Helen's Church. The Domesday book mentions a parish priest at Ashby; traces of 14th-century stonework can be found in the arcades leading from the chancel to the Hastings Chapel. St Helen's was refurbished in Charles II's reign and again in 1829. It was extensively enlarged in 1878-80. Click the picture to see this scene in 2007 |
