Museum Education
It's the REAL THING

Museum visits give children the chance to experience history through real objects.

Our dedicated education team can help to give your school Museum visit real WOW factor.

We can help you plan an activity session in the Museum to suit your requirements and topics.

Our philosophy is Life Long Learning

The Museum works with schools, adult special need groups, senior citizens groups as well as local history societies, U3A and other groups. The new Ferrers Community Room, pictured above, provides groups with a dedicated learning space big enough for a full class and allows evening classes and lectures to take place.

We have a wide range of expertise in working with educational groups.

We have many school groups visit us for curriculum work and we are able to loan objects and educator's boxes to schools to support classroom work (e.g. on the 17th Century and World War II). We also have 30 replica 17th century costumes for children to use at the museum or for schools to borrow. We now have leaflets and worksheets for children to use in the two galleries.

We work with disability groups in the museum and we have experience of reminiscence work with older people. We are also a useful base for educational groups wishing to visit Ashby Castle and Grace Dieu Priory.

Local history groups often visit us for talks, museum visits or guided walks around Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
If you wish to use us for your educational work contact the Museum by phoning 01530 560090 during opening hours or emailing Education
